StemSight is a Finnish biotechnology company based in Tampere, focused on curing blindness through innovative regenerative cell therapies.
Founded in 2021 by a team of four women from Tampere University, the company is dedicated to developing off-the-shelf therapies using induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells combined with functional biomaterials. Their mission is to accelerate tissue regeneration and enhance the safety and delivery of cell therapies for patients suffering from corneal blindness. Currently in the pre-clinical stage, StemSight is working towards initiating clinical trials in 2027. Their lead product is a bioengineered contact lens designed to treat Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency (LSCD), a severe form of corneal blindness. The company aims to address the global shortage of corneal donor tissue and expand its offerings to treat general corneal blindness. StemSight also participates in international programs, such as the Japan Entry Acceleration Program, to further develop its scalable therapies for the medical and healthcare sectors.
