A record of what investors did

MillionRounds is an independent investor database. Every other directory prints what funds say about themselves — stated cheque size, stated stages, stated themes. We print what we watched them do, beside what they claim, and we say plainly where our own record runs out.

Why it exists

A founder raising money spends weeks on a list of funds that say they write $500K pre-seed cheques in their sector, and discovers one by one that half of them have not written a cheque of any size in two years, and that a fifth of the websites are dead. That research is done again, from scratch, by every founder in the market. It only has to be done once if somebody is willing to publish the measurement rather than the claim.

We started from purchased and third-party lists — the same raw material everyone in this business starts from — and then checked them. Every website was fetched and its status recorded. Every site we could read was read, and what it said about the firm was compared with what the list said. The result changed a lot of records: of fourteen firms one list called family offices, the websites said four were.

The rules we hold ourselves to

Say what we observed, and only that. A figure we did not see is not printed. An unknown is printed as unknown. We do not model, estimate or fill gaps to make a page look complete.

Publish the size of the blind spot. We catch roughly half the rounds our own sources report in the US, about two thirds in the UK. That number is onthe methodology page rather than buried, because a coverage claim nobody can check is worth nothing.

Never infer silence into an accusation. A firm is only marked as appearing to have stopped when three independent signals agree, and for the kinds of investor that rarely announce anything — family offices, institutional LPs, private credit — we never infer it at all.

Placement is not for sale. Not on a fund page, not in a list, not in the round stream. A record that can be bought is not a record.

No personal contact data. We hold no emails or phone numbers in this product and sell none. Who to approach at a fund is your work, and a warm introduction beats a scraped address anyway.

Who runs it

MillionRounds is operated independently and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of any fund, accelerator or institution named on this site. It is currently run as a sole trader rather than an incorporated company; that will change before it takes subscriptions, and this page will say so when it does.
