Wellfare

Wellfare is a nonprofit organization based in New York City, focused on addressing food insecurity by providing free, nutritious groceries to low-income families.

Launched in February 2021, Wellfare operates under the mission of ensuring "good food for all" by delivering high-quality, donated food directly to those in need. The organization's primary service is the Better Box, a unique food program designed for low-income households. Each Better Box contains over $200 worth of premium, convenient groceries, including low-sugar beverages and high-fiber snacks. Wellfare manages the entire process, from sourcing donated products to delivering them directly to qualifying households, including those in public housing or enrolled in SNAP. The program allows families to receive their Better Box either at community distribution points or delivered to their doors every two weeks. Wellfare aims to expand its reach, serving more families and connecting them with healthier food options.
