Vico Therapeutics is a clinical-stage genetic medicines company based in Leiden, the Netherlands.
The company specializes in RNA-based science to develop targeted treatments for rare genetic neurological diseases. Vico Therapeutics utilizes a proprietary antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) platform that employs precision chemistry to address the root causes of these disorders while maintaining essential protein function. Recently, the company secured $60 million in Series B financing to advance its lead clinical program and expand its pipeline. The lead product candidate, VO659, is an ASO designed to target the CAG repeat expansion, making it the only ASO in clinical development for all nine known polyglutamine diseases. VO659 is currently in Phase 1/2a clinical development and has received Orphan-Drug Designation from the U.S. FDA for Huntington’s disease and spinocerebellar ataxia. Vico Therapeutics also aims to address conditions such as Rett syndrome and familial Alzheimer’s disease, collaborating with industry consortia to enhance clinical trials for inherited ataxias.
