TerraCycle is a global waste management and recycling company based in Trenton, New Jersey.
Founded in 2001 by Tom Szaky, the company aims to eliminate the idea of waste by focusing on non-recyclable items that traditional systems overlook. TerraCycle operates in over 20 countries, collecting and processing waste such as cigarette butts, coffee capsules, and chip bags, turning them into raw materials for new products. The company offers various services, including sponsored waste programs that allow individuals and organizations to collect specific waste streams for free. TerraCycle also partners with businesses to manage hard-to-recycle waste and provides a shopping service called Loop, which uses reusable packaging. Additionally, TerraCycle produces recycled consumer products and organic fertilizer from its recycling efforts. With a commitment to sustainability, the company has diverted millions of pounds of waste from landfills and donated over $25 million to schools and charities.
