Netlog was a Belgian social networking website founded in 1999 in Ghent by Lorenz Bogaert and Toon Coppens.
Originally named ASL.TO, it rebranded to Redbox in 2002 and then to Netlog around 2005-2006, targeting a global youth audience. At its peak, Netlog had over 94 million registered users and was available in more than 20 languages, attracting around 50 million unique visitors monthly. The platform allowed users to create personal web pages, connect with others, chat, play games, share videos, and post blogs. It focused on entertainment and social interaction, appealing particularly to young people interested in music and socializing. Netlog also offered advertising tools for brands, including display ads and branded pages. In 2011, it was acquired by Massive Media, which expanded its portfolio to include other social platforms.
