Lordstown Motors was an American electric vehicle startup founded in 2018 or 2019, focused on producing the Endurance, a full-size battery electric pickup truck.
The company acquired the historic Lordstown Assembly plant in Ohio from General Motors in November 2019, aiming to revive it for electric vehicle production. Lordstown Motors went public through a reverse merger and received various state incentives to support its operations. The Endurance features innovative in-wheel hub motors, providing four-wheel drive, 600 horsepower, and a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. It is equipped with a 109 kWh battery, offering an estimated range of 200-250 miles. Limited production of the Endurance began in September 2022, with a target of 500 units by June 2023. However, the company faced operational challenges and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2023, with only six trucks delivered by March 2023.
