Kelpi is a UK-based sustainable materials innovation company founded in 2020.

It is B Corp-certified and focuses on replacing fossil fuel plastics in packaging with seaweed-based, bio-derived coatings. Operating from the Science Creates incubator in Bristol, Kelpi aims to tackle plastic pollution by creating compostable, marine-safe, low-carbon bioplastics. The company produces a high-barrier bio-coating made from seaweed and natural plant oils. This coating offers a water barrier and resistance to moisture, oxygen, acid, and grease, making it ideal for food, drink, cosmetics, and personal care packaging. It is 100% bio-based, biodegradable, and recyclable with paper, matching or exceeding the performance of conventional plastics. Kelpi targets the B2B market, collaborating with global brands and multinational businesses to develop sustainable packaging solutions across various industries, including food and drink, cosmetics, and personal care products.
