Helpper

Helpper is a Belgian collaborative economy platform founded in 2017 by François Gerard.

It connects individuals seeking assistance with daily tasks to enthusiastic neighbors, known as "helppers," in their community. The platform aims to make practical help accessible while alleviating pressure on the formal care sector. Helpper promotes values of human connection, trust, and autonomy, fostering an inclusive society where people support one another. The platform serves two main groups: budget holders, who are individuals managing their own care or that of a family member with disabilities, and helppers, who are individuals aged 18 and older willing to offer help in their neighborhoods. Helpper facilitates various types of assistance, including transport, shopping, companionship, cooking, and providing a listening ear. Users can access the service through a mobile app, and registration is free, with payment only required after finding the right help. Active in Flanders and Brussels, Helpper has successfully connected over 5,000 users, supported by a dedicated team based in Antwerp.
