Artscape

Artscape is a Toronto-based not-for-profit urban development organization founded in 1986.

Its mission was to make space for creativity and transform communities through creative placemaking. Originally established to address the need for affordable artist studio space, Artscape evolved into a recognized leader in leveraging arts and culture for community and urban development. The organization engaged in various social enterprises, including real estate development, property management, and artistic programming. It developed unique cultural facilities such as community cultural hubs and artist live/work projects. Artscape's primary beneficiaries included artists, cultural practitioners, and local communities seeking vibrant and inclusive urban environments. Although Artscape ceased operations in mid-2024, its legacy continues through the spaces it developed, which are now managed by new ownership.
