Ambri is an American startup focused on long-duration grid-scale energy storage using its proprietary Liquid MetalTM battery technology.
Founded in 2010 by Donald Sadoway and David Bradwell from MIT, Ambri aims to enhance the operation of power grids by increasing the use of renewable energy sources like wind and solar, while reducing reliance on traditional fossil fuel power plants. The Liquid MetalTM battery is designed for a lifespan of over 20 years and can handle frequent daily cycling, even in harsh environments. It is safe, durable, and cost-effective, providing 4 to 24 hours of energy storage capacity. Ambri offers a ready-to-install DC containerized system that integrates the battery with necessary infrastructure, making it easier for utility providers, industrial customers, and renewable energy projects to incorporate intermittent energy sources into the grid. The company has raised over $50 million in funding from notable investors, including Bill Gates and Total.
