# About Millionrounds: a record of what investors did

> An independent record of what investors actually did, built from filings, funding news and firms' own sites. Who publishes it, why, and the rules it keeps.

About us

# A record of what investors *did*

295 new rounds added in the last seven days

Every other directory prints what funds say about themselves: stated cheque sizes, stated stages, stated themes. We print what we watched them do, beside what they claim, and we say plainly where our own record runs out.

A founder raising money spends weeks on a list of funds that say they write pre-seed cheques in their sector, and discovers one by one that half of them have not written a cheque of any size in two years, and that a fifth of the websites are dead.

That research is done again, from scratch, by every founder in the market. It only has to be done once, if somebody is willing to publish the measurement rather than the claim.

So we started from the same lists everyone in this business starts from, and checked them. Every website fetched, every readable site read, every claim set beside what we saw.

Why it exists

## The same research, done again by every founder

**32%** of 113,765 investor websites we checked are dead, parked or broken

**4 of 14** firms one list called family offices were family offices, once we read their websites

Who it is for

The rules we hold ourselves to

## Five promises, kept in public

- 01 **Say what we observed, and only that.** A figure we did not see is not printed. An unknown is printed as unknown. Nothing is modelled or estimated to make a page look complete.
- 02 **Publish the size of the blind spot.** We measure how much of the funding world we catch, country by country, and print it on the methodology page rather than bury it.
- 03 **Never turn silence into an accusation.** A firm is only marked as appearing to have stopped when three independent signals agree, and never for investors that rarely announce.
- 04 **Never let anyone pay to change the record.** An observed record is not for sale, including to the firms it describes. Paying for a plan changes what you can do, not what we print.
- 05 **Keep corrections free.** Corrections and removals need no account and no payment, and are not conditional on subscribing or claiming anything.

The first three are measured on [the methodology page](https://millionrounds.com/methodology); the last two are written into [our terms](https://millionrounds.com/legal/terms).

Every night

## What happens while you sleep

The nightly run starts at 04:30 UTC and takes about five hours. These are its four steps, with this week's figures.

- Step 1 **The press is read** Funding news from 334 publications. Each round is pulled out, matched and folded with its other reports. *295 rounds this week*
- Step 2 **Filings come in** New raises filed with the SEC and share allotments at Companies House, kept apart from what the press says. *383 filings this week*
- Step 3 **Websites are checked** Firms' own sites are read for their team, portfolio and news. A dead or parked site is noted, never hidden. *113,765 sites checked*
- Step 4 **Everything is rebuilt** Rankings, activity and every list are worked out again from the new data, so the morning starts current. *3,984 lists rebuilt*

Who runs it

## Independent, and plain about it

Millionrounds is independent. No fund, accelerator or institution on this site owns, backs or speaks for it. It is run by a sole trader, not a company.

- **No paid placement.** No firm can pay to rank higher.
- **No investors behind us.** Independent of every firm we list.
- **Every figure dated and sourced.** Each with its source and date.

Something wrong about your firm?

## Corrections are free

Tell us what is wrong on a firm, a person or a round, and a person reads it. No account and no payment are needed, and the fix is made whether or not you ever pay us anything. A firm asking to remove its own record is honoured; an accurate, sourced record of an announced deal stays.

## Go and check the record

The argument is only worth as much as the data behind it.

## Questions about us

Who is behind Millionrounds?

Millionrounds is published independently, currently by a sole trader rather than an incorporated company. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any fund, accelerator or institution named on the site.

How do you make money?

From paid plans. Pro and Max open more rows, more records a day, and exports with checked contacts. Reading the record stays free, and no one can pay to change what it says.

Something about my firm is wrong. What do I do?

Use the corrections page. It is free, needs no account, and the fix is made whether or not you ever pay us anything. A firm's request to remove its own record is honoured.

Where does the data come from?

Public sources: funding news, regulators' filings, firms' own websites and open data. Lists are treated as leads and checked. The methodology page lists every kind of source and how strong each one is.
